Upcoming Meeting

Fail to Plan... Plan to Fail

We would like to invite you to our September meeting to be held at New World Landing on Wednesday, September 10 from 11:30 am – 1 pm. Our speaker will be Sharlyn Lauby, SPHR, CPLP, president of Internal Talent Management (ITM Group) in Fort Lauderdale. She is also the current president of HR Florida and was appointed by former Governor Jeb Bush to serve on the Governor’s Alliance for Employment for Citizens with Disabilities. Sharlyn will be presenting on the topic of strategic planning, "Fail to Plan . . . Plan to Fail". You will learn to understand the relationship between strategic planning and business results and learn the four steps to developing a strategic plan. She will also discuss current examples of strategic planning in the workplace. In addition to her Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) certification through the Society for Human Resource Management, Sharlyn is also a Certified Human Resources Executive (CHRE) through the American Hotel and Lodging Association and a Certified Professional in Learning Performance (CPLP) through the American Society of Training and Development.

Please RSVP by clicking the RSVP link by Friday, September 5. It is very important to RSVP, even if you have pre-paid for the year so we can give an accurate count to New World Landing. The cost for lunch is $12 for GPSHRM members and $15 for guests.

One additional note: Please remember that there will be NO October monthly meeting. Instead we will be having a Diversity seminar, "Diversity is Value-able" on Friday, October 17 from 8 – 12:30. Please e-mail stephanie_mowrer@med3000.com for more information .

Thank you for your support of our chapter each month and we hope to see you there!

Diversity Seminar

We are very excited about our fall Diversity Seminar, "Diversity is Value-able", to be held on Friday, October 17, 2008 from 8 am – 12:30 pm at New World Landing. Our presenter is Sharon Lovoy, SPHR, Owner and President of Lovoy’s Team Works. Sharon speaks and trains across the country on a variety of topics and we are thrilled that she was willing to come speak to us in Pensacola! Stephanie Mowrer personally heard her speak at the Mobile HR Conference last fall and it was one of the best and most thought provoking diversity presentations she has ever heard. You are not going to want to miss out on this seminar!

The registration fee is just $45 for GPSHRM members* and $50 for non-members. Please find the registration form attached, as well as an overview of her presentation. If you have any questions, please feel free to call Stephanie Mowrer at 850-995-5858 x 101 or email stephanie_mowrer@med3000.com! We hope to see you in October!

*Please note: This will replace our monthly October GPSHRM meeting. We will not be having a separate meeting that month, therefore, any GPSHRM member who has prepaid for the year will receive a $10 credit on their seminar fee since there will be no lunch provided in October.
