What's Fear Got to Do With It?

Everything: The Coach Approach to Transitioning

Employees Back to Work

Betsy Smith, PhD

In a recent survey conducted by the global human resource consulting firm Mercer of 735 employers, more than 45 percent said they are struggling with workers who are reluctant to return to the workplace because of the fear of getting sick.

We don’t name it, but Fear is palpable in society.  We are fearful for our health and the health of our loved ones. We are fearful for our jobs.  We are fearful of race relations (or the lack of) and of riots.

What do we name It? Dread, Anxiety, Stress, Distress, Panic, Alarm, Trepidation, Pressure, Trauma, Worry and Nervous Tension.

The pressure is on for leaders to adapt and keep leading while we figure out what business is going to look like in the future.

Using the Coach Approach with employees will help with communication, self-reliance, confidence and work relationships all critical aspects of transitioning back to work.

In this interactive presentation E. L. “Betsy” Smith, PhD will share the Coach Approach to transitioning back to the Next Normal.

Participants will learn

  • ·         How to focus on fear
  • ·         How to identify fear in themselves
  • ·         How to identify fear in others by their actions
  • ·         How to be transparent and authentic
  • ·         How to be flexible and realistic in expectations
  • ·         How to use the Coach Approach to insure a successful transition back to work
